1/23/12 Jason Rosa of Rehoboth was arraigned on several Rehoboth police charges including two counts of assault & battery, breaking & entering and vandalizing.  The thirty-five-year old was released on personal recognizance by Judge David Turcotte with a hearing for appearance of counsel was set for February 7.


1/18/12 Thirty-one-year old Scott Kelly of Winthrop Street was sentenced to six months in a house of correction by Judge Gregory Phillips after Kelly pleaded guilty to a Rehoboth police charge (January 10) of a second OUI.  The sentence was suspended for two years.


1/10/12 Rehoboth resident Nicholas Stevens, age 25, appeared before Judge Francis Marini on a Rehoboth police charge of October 17 for assault and battery.  Stevens admitted facts sufficient for a finding of guilty and the case was continued without finding for one year.


1/10/12 Rehoboth resident Troy Newman, age 40, was ordered held on $1000 cash bail by Judge Kevan Cunningham following his arraignment on multiple Taunton police charges dated January 5, including assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and vandalism.  The case was continued to January 25.

Rehoboth Police Nab Florida Fugitive

January 3, 2012  -  Rehoboth Police Officer James Casey was on patrol yesterday when he stopped a black Ford Ranger pickup truck on Pine Street after observing that a passenger in the vehicle was not wearing his seat belt.

      Identified by his Florida license as Brent Marshall Hannin, the suspect provided a local address of Stanley Street in  Pawtucket, RI. 

      A check through the National Crime Information Center revealed an arrest warrant for Hannin for two counts of sale/possession of Oxycodone.  The Sheriff's Office in Pinellas County, Florida informed Rehoboth Police they would extradite Hannin on the charges. 

     He was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters and later booked with  Bail Clerk Marc Santos setting bail at $100,040.00. 

      Hannin was transported to the New Bedford House of Corrections on the warrant charges and was also charged with being a fugitive from justice.


Rehoboth Man Arrested on Second OUI

January 1, 2012  -  Rehoboth police dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 2:30 PM on Friday, December 30 reporting a vehicle driving erratically on Tremont Street in Rehoboth.

      With the caller’s assistance, police units were able to located and stop the vehicle on Park Street.  Following a roadside investigation, including a field sobriety test, Rehoboth resident Scott Lachapelle, age 49, of Walnut Street was arrested on a second OUI charge and negligent operation, as well as a marked lane violation.

     After processing at the police station, Lachapelle was released on $240. cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
